I am pleased to announce two news items:
The following applications for admission to the Academy have been granted (in no particular order):
Gile
Optime
JaktUp
Eks
Shen Xi
R1p70r
Yukari Tanizaki
COunt it If it GoEs
It is my pleasure to inform each that after careful deliberation of their applications to join the LBSRA, the majority of the Board of Admissions have voted to allow them to join. There are some applications that are still pending. The Admissions Board considers everything from grammer and punctuation to running experience and evidence of honesty. If you are not on the list, please do not be alarmed. Your application may need to be resent, may be still under deliberation, or may be able to be improved to permit you to join the Academy in the future. Please contact me if you have any questions.
If those listed above are still interested, please let me know either here on the forums or in game. Thanks for your interest and good luck in whatever you do.
The other exciting news item is that one of the great runners in the Academy, Crovax Blackthorne, recently achieved his running certification with a remarkable performance (that amazed and impressed some of the most accomplished runners in the Academy). Congratulations, FyrFytr!

Thank you Thank you Thank you!
Yay!
Thank you very much for allowing me to join
Shall I pay you in game when you are online? Also, if you are not online, is it ok to pay another member? I'm happy I got in as you can see. Having played with some of you already, I'm looking forward to learning from you and getting better ^_^.
Also, congratulations Crovax!
Once again, thank you!

Yes, the tuition may be paid to me directly or to a current officer of the Academy such as Chiara Giulietta, the Blurr, and Nakora the Swift, who will forward it. As soon as you have paid the tuition you will be invited into the Guild if you are interested in belonging to the guild as well, and you will be able to access the private forums of the Academy, the videos, manuals, maps, and so forth that we use for training, and be able to join us for PvP, GvG, runs, UW, FoW, SF, and so forth.
There are lots of great runners to visit with and lots of resources available. But we do expect everyone who joins to honor the investment of everyone else by contributing their time and talents to help the others and by not sharing the resources available with those who have not made a similar investment.
Thanks!

It seems there quite a number of people joining the academy. I congratulate you on its success. My question though is that with all these people joining, although cetified upon graduation, will they be getting to run anyone? It seems that the majority of people will want the runs from the people they know like The Blurr, Lady Blue Steel, Orchid, and Nokia. Is there any gurantee if they graduate from the academy and begin to work for you that they will recieve enough runs to make the 100k per hour you claim to be making?

An excellent question, Sergio, and one that has been answered many times in the thread, including in the legal disclaimer in the very first post. Here is one way that it was phrased a couple of weeks ago:

I would not encourage people to try to time their application to the Academy in such a way as to minimize the value of the ecto tuition, and I would also not encourage people to join the Academy hoping to strike it rich. While it is true that many Academy graduates and leaders have made tens of millions of gold in the past with running services, there are no guaruntees with any business, and in an economy where almost no one is making money and items are selling for a fraction of what they used to sell for, there is incredible interest in possible avenues of making money in the game (such as running), but less ability of customers to pay for the services we provide. I encourage people to join the Academy if they want to learn the secrets, learn how I did it, and hang out with exceptionally skilled runners and play with us in PvP and PvE activities. I still believe there are untold fortunes to be made in the game, even in a slow economy, and especially when the game economy improves, but that consideration should not be the primary motivation for applying to the Academy.

If we were not accepted, how would we know? Would one of the administrators send you a PM telling you if you made it or not? Just curios.

Thanks Lady. It was quite an experience. I would also like to thanks Reyla, Brutaniau, and The Blurr for the fun and laughs last night. We were basically putzing around Lornar's griping about how difficult it could be, and basically had loads of fun cracking on each others runs. I then decided that since there were a bunch of officers present I'd take a stab at my graduation run. Wasn't picture perfect, but it was exciting. I got my bow ready for you LBS.

Well that's my only skeptic thought with joining the academy. In relation it costs around 300K to join (correct me if my addition is messed up) after tuition and materials needed. I'm just saying if one is to join there is no gurantee they will make this money back. So until I can get my own steady flow of money coming in I'm a little worried about joining. I apologize for not noticing the statement in the disclaimer when I first read the post.

I have seen this mentioned and heard different people talk about the tuition costs and the cost of materials. Tuition is required to join, while materials are suggestions (albeit strong suggestions), and not required to join. I am a very successful runner, able to complete any run consistently, and I use a MAJOR Vigor and MAJOR Absorbtion. You can craft a 15>50 Sword at Droknars for 5k, add a 10/9 Sundering or Furious Hilt for 5k-10k, a +28 health pommel for 5k-10k, a -2e/-2s req10 Wooden Buckler for 10k, or any number of other ways to decrease your cost. The fact is you do not have to have any of this stuff, but it helps.
